In a statement released on Wednesday, Chicago Bears defensive coordinator Alan Williams resigned.
In his statement, Williams notes that he is resigning for personal reasons - to focus on his health and family.
He resigned, amid rumors, only two games into the second season with last week's game taken over by head coach Matt Eberflus.
Social media speculated that the reason was because the FBI raided the Bears' practice facility and Williams' home.
Quarterback Justin Fields previously also indicated that the coaches were giving him too much information causing him to not trust his instincts.
Williams' Attorney Andrew Stroth and the Bears' VP of communication Faber denied these rumors. Fields also said his comments were taken out of context.
Williams, 53, has over three decades of coaching experience and the Bears hired him in February 2022.
He said in his statement that he plans to return to coaching after taking some time to address his health.
